Important: Parent Information
Families are the most important factor in a program’s success!

On this page, you will find coaching philosophy, rules and regulations, required participation guidelines, and basic program information. Questions can be addressed by Coach Rebecca Role, rrole42@gmail.com.
Every family is required to volunteer for at least one shift (admissions or concessions) at any home game.
My Motto: Play Basketball because you LOVE the game and no other reason.
EVERY PRACTICE IS A TRYOUT FOR THE NEXT GAME!
The players need to learn to manage responsibilities with extracurricular activities. Let your athlete handle their business. They can discuss missing practice, out of town events, or other information with me prior to or after practice. These young adults will become adults soon. Better to teach them how to confront tough situations and decisions now.
Let the coaches, coach! Yelling from the stands is encouraged. However, please do not coach your athlete from the sidelines. They will respond to your voice and get distracted from play. This is not fair to the player or the team.
Focus on dealing with a diverse group of personalities and work as a team. I will not tolerate immature, disrespectful, lazy, indifferent, or “catty” attitudes. In life, these future adults will have to work with or work for individuals they don’t necessarily like. However, they will still have to get the job done. I am providing a real-world example of working with diverse personalities and being successful while doing it.

Basketball helps maturity develop. Athletics helps young minds and bodies become well-rounded. We will not ask players to do anything that will hurt them.
Taking responsibility for your efforts and your actions! Taking responsibility with no excuses. I expect this. Play time is determined in practice. Miss practice, don’t expect equal time as those who attend. Lazy effort does not benefit the player or the team and will result in reduced playing time. Never quit, in practice or a game. This has to be the most important thing a player can do.
Every player has a role to play. Not all players are starters. Some players are the support backbone of the team. Some players keep the spirit high. If we don’t lift each other up, who will?
This is the players’ team. Please don’t undermine the group by expressing negative opinions of other players, parents or coaches. Be supportive and positive to teach your player to keep a positive attitude and to never quit.
24-Hour rule- I will gladly discuss your player at any time. However, all requests must be at least 24 hours after a game or practice. This allows for me to rest as I am emotionally and physically exhausted afterwards and for you to gather your thoughts. I will not discuss other players or coaching strategies. I will only discuss your athlete. I would prefer that the player reach out to me first with concerns. The player must be in attendance at any meeting.

Required pregame attendance is 1 hour prior to posted game time unless notified differently. Late arrival affects starting position and/or position off the bench during games. This season bus transportation will be provided for an additional fee.
Working harder than anyone else, commitment to the other players, making others better by giving them your best, and a positive attitude is all I expect from any of my players. We win as a team and we lose as a team.
Communication-The team will communicate through the GroupMe app. If you have not already been added to the parent chat, please let me know.

Game Day Attire: Gentlemen will wear shirt, tie and khakis. Ladies will wear a dress or pants suit. All clothing must meet the minimum dress code regulations such as no spaghetti straps, skirts at least fingertip in length, nothing too tight or feature revealing. Any dress code violation will be addressed by the coach during practice. We are striving to build a respected program. This is not open for discussion.
Game Time Attire: Socks for game time must be navy, white, gray or black (my rule). Any compression garment, t-shirts, or spandex must be navy or white depending on the color we wear that game. The garment must be the same color as the dominant color of the uniform worn. This is dictated by the NCHSAA. Hair or head bands must follow the same rule. No metal clips to hold hair are allowed during the game. If your player has a problem with their hair in their face, I will take it upon myself to remedy the situation during the game. I do not concern myself with appearance. I suggest players have their hair handled before game time. For females, this includes pulling it back. For males, hair must not be in the eyes during play.
The way I coach: I do not have favorites or set starters. Players do not have assigned positions. I like to have players in as many positions as possible for their development. Every game is different. I will put the five players on the floor that I think will win the game. That is not always the same five. I do not wholesale substitute in normal play. Large deficits and large positive margins could be different.
